Michael Thaman
Chairman of the Board and Chief Executive Officer
Michael H. Thaman is the chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials and composite systems.
Mr. Thaman was named a member of the board of directors in January of 2002 and elected chairman later that year. He was appointed senior vice president and chief financial officer in April of 2000.
Since joining the company in 1992, Mr. Thaman has held positions in manufacturing, corporate development and international business. He was named vice president and president of Owens Corning's exterior systems business in 1999. In 1997, he became vice president and president of the company's engineered pipe systems business, headquartered in Brussels, Belgium.
Prior to joining Owens Corning, Mr. Thaman spent six years as a strategy consultant at Mercer Management Consulting where he was a vice president in the New York office.
Mr. Thaman earned a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering and computer science from Princeton University where he graduated with highest honors. He is also a member of the board of directors for Florida Power and Light. Mr. Thaman is a member of the Business Roundtable where he chairs the Energy Efficiency Task Force, serves on the Executive Committee of the Policy Advisory Board of the Joint Center for Housing Studies of Harvard University, and chairs the Toledo Symphony Orchestra.
